John David and Lucy Elizabeth were born on November 4, 2007. Grace gave birth prematurely at age 48 after facing several complications during pregnancy.

A Dangerous Health Scare After Delivery

A week after the twins' birth, Grace suffered a blood clot in her lungs, requiring urgent medical care. Her husband, David Linch, told People at the time she was "doing pretty doggone good" after beginning treatment.

In later interviews, Grace revealed she'd spent months in a wheelchair but chose not to share the full extent of her struggles with viewers. On the morning of November 4, she collapsed from shortness of breath and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors discovered her lungs were filled with fluid.

After an emergency delivery and further complications, Grace eventually recovered — but the experience stayed with her. She later said, "Before I had the babies, I never really let myself love 100%. Lucy and John David have changed all that."
