Tips for Oven-Baked Scrambled Eggs

  1. Opt for an oven-safe casserole dish or a large, deep baking pan. Ensure it’s adequately greased or lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Before starting, preheat your oven to around 350°F (175°C) to ensure even cooking.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs until the yolks and whites are fully combined. This will guarantee a uniform texture.
  4. Add your preferred seasonings, such as salt, pepper, herbs, and any add-ins like cheese, sautéed veggies, or pre-cooked meats.
  5. Introduce a dash of milk, cream, or even sour cream to the eggs. This will give them a creamy and fluffy texture once baked.
  6. Transfer the egg mixture to your prepared dish. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes. Halfway through, stir the eggs gently to ensure even cooking.
  7. Keep a close eye on your eggs, especially during the last few minutes. Overbaking can lead to dry eggs. They’re ready when they’re just set but still slightly moist.
  8. Serve Immediately, oven-baked scrambled eggs are best enjoyed warm. Top with fresh herbs, avocado slices, or a sprinkle of cheese for added flavor.
  9. Embracing this oven technique allows for a hands-off approach to scrambled eggs, freeing you to focus on other dishes or simply enjoy your morning!

Made this today and I appreciated not having to make multiple batches of eggs on my stovetop.

I halved the recipe, left out the pepper, and cut the salt in half. I found it more than salty enough and would recommend others consider halving the salt too. Easy to add more, but can’t be removed!

I used 2% milk and a Mexican cheese blend. I found the eggs a bit watery and oily. It may have been my choice of cheese. I’ll definitely make again, but will probably try reducing the milk and butter next time.

Thank you! Great base recipe and directions to play with!
