When "Gossip Girl" met "The OC," it was a crossover fans never saw coming. Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, stars of two of the biggest teen dramas of the 2000s, found lasting love off-screen years after their shows helped define a generation. While their characters never crossed paths on TV, their real-life romance has become one of Hollywood's most enduring surprises.

Brody and Meester have been married since 2014 and continue to show strong support and admiration for each other. The couple shares two children, a 10-year-old daughter named Arlo and a 5-year-old son whose name has not been publicly shared.

Though both actors tend to keep their personal lives private, they have shared heartfelt tributes to each other during rare public moments.

Brody once reflected on his early impressions of Meester, once meeting the whole cast of "Gossip Girl" and finding the actress attractive. Even when they worked together on "The Oranges," Brody did not act on his attraction as he was at the time in another relationship.

By the time they had their first date, Brody wasn't sure if it was going to go somewhere. "I had no idea whether she was a good person or not," he admitted. "And, in fact, kind of assumed she probably wasn't for like the first handful of years that I didn't know her, just because, I don't know, 'Gossip Girl.'"

Those assumptions changed as they grew closer. Brody later praised Meester in strong terms. "She's literally like Joan of Arc. She is, like, the strongest, best person I know. She is my moral compass and North Star, and I just can't say enough good things about her character. It's crazy," he gushed.

In February 2025, Brody gave a special nod to Meester while accepting the Critics Choice Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for "Nobody Wants This." "My darling, darling, darling wife Leighton," he said during his speech, "thank you for sharing this life with me and this journey with me. Thank you for our family. I love you with all my heart."

Meester also shared kind words about Brody. Speaking to E! News, she shared, "I'm just so so proud of him and think he deserves everything. I think the world of him."

In addition to their personal bond, the couple has worked together on screen. They co-starred in projects such as "The Oranges," "Single Parents," and "River Wild."

Indeed, fans don't have to wait too long to see them together again. Meester will be joining Brody in season two of "Nobody Wants This," where she will play the middle school nemesis of Brody's onscreen love interest, Kristen Bell.

Brody and Meester continue to balance their personal and professional lives with a rare mix of privacy and genuine admiration. Whether they're sharing the screen or supporting each other off-camera, their bond remains strong.

As they prepare to reunite on "Nobody Wants This," fans will get another glimpse of the real-life couple whose respect and affection for one another only seem to grow with time.
