Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere Were Seen on Set of 'The Shards' 30 Years After Their Parents' Split

An eerie new thriller set in 1980s Los Angeles has pulled together two second-generation stars with dazzling good looks, famous last names, and a jaw-dropping family connection.

Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere were spotted filming scenes for Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX series "The Shards," and the pictures posted by Deuxmoi on October 29, 2025, have sent fans spiraling because of the two actors' striking resemblances to their iconic parents, Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere.

On set, Homer looked every inch the haunted heartthrob in a navy suit jacket, crisp white shirt, and black trousers, topped off with dark sunglasses and a perfectly retro 1980s wave in his hair.

Kaia, meanwhile, stole the scene in a fiery red shirt tucked into copper-colored leather pants, styled with a simple brown belt and matching purse. Her hair, curled just right, screamed vintage bombshell.

The Beautiful Couple That Was

The 24-year-old actress is the daughter of Cindy with Rande Gerber, while Homer is the son of Richard with Carey Lowell. But long before Kaia and Homer were set to star on the same show, their parents shared headlines. Their whirlwind marriage, which lasted from 1991 to 1995, was short-lived but endlessly glamorous.

In 2013, Cindy broke her silence about the end of their relationship during "Oprah's Master Class." It wasn't scandal or betrayal that split them; it was timing. The couple had a 17-year age gap, and at just 22, she said she was still figuring out who she was.

"I think I was more willing at 22 to be like, 'Okay, I'll follow.' And then you start going, 'Well, I don't want to just follow, I want to lead sometimes, and I want to walk side by side sometimes,'" Cindy said. "I think everything you do helps you find your inner voice and, you know, sometimes it's defining what you don't want that helps you then get closer to what you do want."

They moved on, but their genes didn't go quietly. Both Kaia and Homer inherited their parents' flawless features, and now they're both chasing the spotlight on their own terms.

"The Shards" is based on Bret Easton Ellis's horror novel, set in a glamorous yet sinister version of 1980s Los Angeles. The series follows 17-year-old Bret, played by Igby Rigney, a student at an elite prep school who becomes obsessed with a mysterious new arrival, Robert Mallory, portrayed by Homer.
