In a 2023 Vogue video, Ariana Grande walked through the routine that helped shape her now-iconic look — fresh skin, soft pink hues, and a dramatic '60s cat-eye. But what started as a makeup tutorial quickly became something more personal.

Grande's beauty routine starts the same way many of her mornings do — with her hair pulled back into a high ponytail, tied in a satin bow. Before leaning into her signature '60s cat-eye and pink-toned makeup, she focuses on skincare, grounding her regimen in both discipline and personal experience.

She credited aesthetician Sarah Ford with transforming the texture of her skin. "It's so soft and smooth," she said, though she noted that breakouts still happened due to the amount of makeup she used on set.
To manage that, she begins her routine with a Biocell Oxygen Serum, followed by a classic mix of La Mer moisturizer and SPF. "Growing up in Florida, I spent a lot of time in the sun," she explained, referencing the freckles and discoloration she associated with those years.

Next, she applied her r.e.m. beauty Undereye Cooling Balm — a product she described as her favorite — and a pair of Shiseido eye patches, which she admitted she might have been using incorrectly.

She then applies a pump and a half of her brand's Sweetener foundation, then moves to concealer and vanilla setting powder. Grande shared:
"I like to set pretty quickly. I just try to make sure that nothing could possibly move."

Although the steps don't follow a strict order, she paused to fill in her bleached brows with a MAC pencil, shaping them into a straight, lifted, Audrey Hepburn–inspired arch. "I've been bleaching my eyebrows for a year now, and I definitely needed to touch them up," the singer revealed.

Grande often references Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe when speaking about beauty, as she admired the way both icons used clever makeup techniques. "They were doing these makeup tricks before anyone really had it figured out yet," she remarked.

To build her signature look, the musical star sweeps a pink Bobbi Brown eyeshadow across her lids and cheeks. She then draws a soft wing with r.e.m.'s Multi-Use Eye Stick in Intergalactic.
"I am just coloring like a four-year-old," she joked, before defining the look further by blending two dark brown shadows for a shadow-based cat-eye.

Blush follows — applied not just to her cheeks but near her brows and temples — along with highlight, contour, and mascara. On her lips, she layers stain, gloss, and plumping balm before wiping some off to create a natural tint.

She also gave a nod to Hailey Bieber for using her product in a Vogue video, returning the love by applying Rhode's lip treatment.
However, perhaps most importantly, throughout the routine, Grande reflects on how her relationship with beauty had evolved. Once a way to hide, makeup eventually became an outlet. She stated:
"I think of it as self-expression now and accentuating what is here."

The singer also shared that she had stopped using Botox and fillers in 2018. "But I know for me, I was just like, Oh, I wanna see my well-earned cry lines and smile lines,'" she added.
Before ending the video, Grande sharpened her cat-eye with a pencil liner and set the look with a Fenty spray. "That is it," she said. "I think we did a pretty in pink cat-eye moment today."
With humor, vulnerability, and precision, Grande offered more than just a tutorial — she shared a thoughtful philosophy on beauty, identity, and growth.
